The Climbing Wall Association (CWA), the voice of the climbing wall industry, has announced the release of its expanded ClimbSmart!® public awareness campaign. Industry growth, new technology, and different types of climbing offered in modern facilities have led to the need for updated risk management resources.

After working the three move power test-piece intermittently for nearly five years, Daniel Woods sent the infamous Bubble Wrap project in CATS. Chris Danielson put up the problem in early 2008 and each of the hard moves had spit off many of the best climbers in the country before Woods was able to put it all together. The problem originally was set to finish in the middle of the wall but just to make it even harder Woods put his stamp on the bloc, adding one last move to finish at the top. The three hard moves that define the problem, including what is probably one of the hardest single moves on plastic, revolve around the Bubble Wrap Ledges set. It’s plastic, sure, and that’s all it is… Except that it’s also an incredibly difficult and impressive accomplishment and we congratulate Daniel for working to send it.

For the second year in a row ABS Open Nationals was held at the Colorado Springs Auditorium in late February with eGrips all over the walls. Our own Chris Danielson was on the crew along with Chief Routesetter Jeremy Hardin, Mike Helt, John Muse, and Mark Mercer. Those guys put on a great show, setting with the Main Dish features in the Finals, as well as the new Myorcan Sloper Jugs, Myorcan Slopers, and special tweaks of the O’Myorcan Ripple and Bubble Wrap Beehive.

Along with our partner brand Trango, we are proud sponsors of USA Climbing.  In early April, Movement Climbing and Fitness hosted SCS Open Nationals for the third time.  The routesetting, headed up by Chief Routesetter Mike Helt, along with Bret Johnston, Justen Sjong, and Kory Cooper-Fenske, was outstanding.  The Myorcan Double TufaPinch and Myorcan Sloper Jugs were featured in the Women’s Final along with many other eGrips shapes.

Ian Powell is an original founder of eGrips and continues to shape for us.  He has a unique story and passion for climbing, holds, movement and art.  Our good friend Brad Clement who regularly shoots Trango videos for us put together this excellent short about Ian.

New Website!  We have been hard at work for a long time on this site and are super excited to finally launch it.  Our goal:  A site that is simple to navigate where our customers can view and purchase all of our nearly 1300 shapes easily and learn more about the eGrips world, our partners, and community.

We’ve created a navigation filter bar at the left side of the page so that when searching for holds you can filter by a wide range of categories.  Looking for only jugs, crimps, and/or footholds?  No problem – search by Grip Type.  Want to see only medium Artistic shapes, then pick out Bubble Wraps, and build your perfect themed route?  We’ve got you covered – filter by Size, Family and Style.

See more about our monthly subscription program under First Dibs and read about who shapes them under Our Shapers.  Pick up carabiners, chalk bags, ropes, or climbing shoes through the Trango products in our Accessories section.  And keep checking back in the future – we plan to add more content to Community section, regularly update with fresh sets, and announce other new developments.

So check out the site and let us know what you think!
